I'm very excited to announce that my boyfriend, Austin, and I are taking a trip to Hawaii!!! We will be staying on the island of Maui to be exact!
If you've been reading my blog for a while, you've probably noticed a shift from recent travel posts to more lifestyle posts. Since meeting Austin, I've been taking the time to stay in one place for once and work on me. I've been able to focus on other life loves like food and my new job teaching English online. The funny part is, is that this online English teaching job has finally given me the ability to travel and work at the same time, but I don't seem to be traveling as much. And that's okay! I've realized how important it is to find a balance in life. And now that I have a second half, it's changed a lot of my desires and life plans. And that's okay too! It has felt right in my life to be here in Florida with my boyfriend while he finishes his Law degree. But recently I've definitely felt that travel itch return. So... we are taking a trip!
I finally have a travel buddy!
It will certainly be a different travel adventure than anything I've ever experienced. I traveled solo a lot in college, which comes with its own advantages and challenges. I'm planning on writing a more detailed blog post on the subject soon, but I've found that solo travel can be extremely rewarding and stress-free. You don't have to coordinate or compromise with anyone! But it can also be lonely and frustrating at times figuring everything out on your own. So I'm very excited to go on this journey with someone that I love so dearly and have a ridiculous amount of fun with. He's also letting me take point on the planning which I'm totally okay with! But it does feel kinda strange having to coordinate with other people. I can't just impulsively book the Airbnb I want or buy that airline ticket as soon as I see it. Austin's pretty laid back, but his mom will be paying for his half of the trip (his graduation present). So I'm really trying to keep everyone in the loop as much as possible and talk through what we want to spend and what we want our experience to be like.
Travel + Work
Yes! I will be working and teaching my VIPKID english classes while in Hawaii. I can't afford to just not work for three weeks! That would be cray cray. Now that I'm making all my money online as a VIPKID teacher, it'll be no problem at all to work on the road. All throughout December I was able to travel and visit friends and family all over the U.S. and it was no big deal teaching with VIPKID. All I need is some wifi and my computer! I'll be making updated posts on how working as a VIPKID teacher plays out while on Maui!
